Originally written by Austin Tappan Wright as a personal hobby and an entertainment for his family, it is an underground classic novel. While some might call it Utopian, or some fantasy fiction, it is a mainstream tale of what happens when an American, the forces of progress represented by America and Germany, and a hostile neighboring country encounter a sane, land-based, agricultural mythical nation called Islandia.
